Bowlers inspire classy warriors win

New Delhi: A terrific bowling display and a classy fifty by skipper David Jacobs ensured the Warriors completed comfortable 28 run victory against a strong Victorian team.

Chasing 159 to win against Warriors, Victorian Bushrangers were restricted to 130/9 in 20 overs.

Bushrangers started their chase in bad fashion as they lost openers Rob Quiney and Brad Hodge inside five overs leaving them in spot of bother at 20/2.

Makhaya Ntini rolled back the years by accounting for two big and important wickets. Ntini finished with the figures of 2/33 in his quota of overs.

Middle order batsman Aaron Finch (25 off 20) tried to up the ante for the Vicoria Bushrangers but Davey Jacobs pulled off an absolute blinder to send Finch back to the pavillion on the bowling of Nicky Boje and left them tottering at 59/3 in ninth over.

Skipper David Hussey (29 off 27) tried to put the things in control for Victoria but he was soon send packing by Justin Kreusch.

Middle order for Bushrangers fell like pack of cards, Warriors picked up five wickets in very quick time to leave the Bushrangers struggling to get anything from the match.

Juan Theron got better of Andrew McDonald (19 off 17), Matthew Wade (0 off 2) and Clint McKay (1 off 3) to finish the match with brilliant figures of 3/22 in his four overs.

Lonwabo Tsotsobe, Nicky Boje, Johan Botha and Justin Kreusch got one scalp each. This is Worriors second victory in as many matches and have taken a giant step to qualify for the semis.

Earlier David Jacobs brilliant knock of 59 from 39 balls inspired Warriors to 158/6 in their quota of 20 overs.

The Warriors were off to a fantastic start thanks largely to their captain Davey Jacobs who set the ground alight with some brilliant hitting. Batting first, Warriors' openers David Jacobs and Ashwell Prince got Warriors off to a flying start with 81 run stand between them.

But soon Bushrangers' pulled things back into control by picking up four quick wickets.

David Jacobs seemed to be playing the innings of his life for the Warriors, hitting the ball all around the park, as he sent the Victoria bowlers into hiding with his breathtaking knock of 59 from 39 deliveries was run out after a terrible mix up with fellow opener Ashwell Prince.

Prince (16 off 19) also followed the skipper back to pavillion who was out trying a scoop and gifting Bushrangers an easy wicket. Middle order batsmen Colin Ingram and Justin Kreusch also departed soon trying to up the ante for the team.

Mark Boucher and Johan Botha (20) then brought up the hundred in the 13th over but runs dried up for the Warriors with the bowlers keeping in tight.

A beautiful catch by Rob Quiney at the boundary line brought an end to Botha's innings.

Boucher, who blasted two fours before being dropped by Maxwell in the 15th over, also failed to raise the tempo and was cleaned up by Nannes in the 19th over.

Andrew McDonald was pick of the bowlers for Bushrangers with 2/22. Dirk Nannes, Shane Harwood and Clint McKay got one scalp each.
